Practical tips for June

Longer days offer more opportunities for outdoor fun with your family:

  • Timeless favorites such as sidewalk chalk are great fun.  Hose it down and you can start all over again.
  • Do you have a young artist in your house?  Fill a small bucket with water, hand your child a wide paintbrush (3-4inches) and let them have at it!  The magic of this one is that dries quickly and they can start all over again.  Great on driveways, brick, wood, and on the  chalk drawing they just created!
  • Entire TV shows devoted to showing you how things are made. Better than seeing it on a screen is experiencing it in person by taking the family on a factory tour.  In Central Ohio you can watch the art of chocolate making at the Anthony Thomas factory.  A fun and tasty event!  See www.Anthony-Thomas.com for details.
  • Are you familiar with the parks in your area?  Make a point of finding one your family has never visited, pack some snacks and you’re on the way.  In Central Ohio visit www.metroparks.net for locations and information.  If you'd like to see animals, Slate Run Living Historical Farm has hogs, sheep, horses, and more.
